The Ever Dreaded Bunker Shot

out of sand, but using the same principle as the flop shot is very effective. The main difference is that you hit the sand first, not the ball. If you were to take a divot with a practice swing (which is not permitted during play) the ball would have been in the center of that divot.

Just like the flop shot, let the club do the work and keep the arms and center moving to a follow through. If you want to get the ball up faster, hinge your wrists in the back swing.

A good rule of thumb for soft sand and good lies is to open your stance and your club face. For bad lies, wet or hard sand, square your stance and close your club face. Remember: hit the sand first and follow through keeping your arms and center moving.

Keep in mind it is against the rules to ground the club in a hazard and test the depth of the sand. You are permitted to take a fair stance, so moving your feet to get a balanced position is permissible.

Callaway Diablo forged irons with Graphite Shafts

Callaway has reached a new level of performance in a forged iron, offering avid players the chance to play with irons featuring all the benefits of a Tour-level set. These Callaway Diablo forged irons provide golfers the best distance they have ever seen in a Callaway forged iron with unprecedented feel, accuracy and forgiveness.

This club produces more distance than other forgings due to its thin, energy-efficient face, an undercut cavity that improves head stability on off-center impact, and a lower, deeper CG for penetrating trajectory. The forged steel body and welded face provide soft, responsive feedback. The face is 25-percent lighter than in the X-22 and has 23 grams more in the perimeter."

PROS: High, soft trajectory with 8- and 6-irons; just enough workability to move the ball gently left or right; distance control is a plus; good accuracy, a bit of built-in forgiveness; well-balanced iron facilitates smooth swings; clubhead momentum is beneficial in rough; combination of graphite shaft and forged head gives smooth impact feel.

CONS: Mixed findings for feel, several testers prefer more feedback than they experienced with forged head/graphite shaft combo; 3-, 6- and 8-irons were the only clubs available at the time of testing; many guys want more help with off-center hits.

Overall, Callaway's diablo forged irons with graphite shafts are extremely playable and provide great feel and distance.

A forged mid sized body with VAR (Vibration Absorption Rubber) in the back and a pocket cavity, the Callaway Legacy Forged irons provide wonderful forged feel and amazing forgiveness and performance. Callaway paired the iron with super lightweight 38g Legacy graphite making it easy to swing and get the ball in the air.

The metal is sunk into a rough shape and then hammered until the desired design is complete. The manufacturer is then presented with a raw forging iron, which is a close approximation of the cheap golf clubs head desired. The carbon steel or chrome club head is then by finished by milling, grinding and drilling. The end result is a solid looking, soft metal iron that has a reduced sweet spot.

They maintained a somewhat classic look and they look absolutely beautiful just sitting in your golf bag. Many people say they are the best irons they have ever hit. Great Feel: Odyssey Black Series i 2-Ball Putter

Inspired by the best-selling 2-Ball, the Odyssey Black Series i 2-Ball Putter features an advanced insert and weighting technology for golfers demanding the best in performance, precision and craftsmanship.

This milled putter features the same multi-material construction as the original Black Series Putters, but now utilizes the multi-layer Tour insert that provides premium feel and responsiveness, improving performance on the green. Black Series i Putters feature the same multi-material construction as the original Black Series Putters, but now utilize the new multi-layer Tour insert that provides premium feel and responsiveness.

The Black Series now has another option for golfers demanding the best in performance, precision and craftsmanship. Odyssey engineers have precisely controlled each putter’s headweight so it can be matched with the specific shaft length for impeccable consistency and control. The rich, nickel-plated finish will also appeal to elite players. Each model utilizes the Fine-Tuned Loft System, which optimizes each putter’s loft in conjunction with its center of gravity (CG) to generate pure roll characteristics.

This putter (golf clubs for sale) has something that most others don't, a feel that results from shaft length. If you buy any other putter that is 35 inches, the weight of the head is the same as the 33 inch one. But this putter has a very weighted feel depending on shaft length. Effectively, don't buy a longer than needed shaft length. Regardless, the putter was great to putt with, the 3 meter putts were in the 6/10 range, which is not bad at all with a new test putter.

This is a great feeling putter, and rolls the ball instead of bouncing it. Very easy too set up. Highly recomend going out and spending the money.

Titleist 712 iron range: first look video

Last week at the AT&T National in Pennsylvania Titleist began seeding their brand new 712 iron range with their Tour players ahead of a launch towards the end of the year.

Titleist say this is a vital part of the process where they get feedback from some of the best players in the world before releasing the irons to the general public.

After seeing the irons for the first time, 19 players put them straight in the bag at the AT&T, including winner Nick Watney who used the AP2 irons.

The new range includes new 712 MB's, 712 CB's, 712 AP2's and 712 AP1's and although full details will be released later in the year, we've come across this video with Chris McGinley, vice president of Titleist golf club marketing and Marni Ines, director of Titleist iron development telling us a little bit about the new clubs.

Titleist 910 F-D Fairway Wood for Golfer

Golf is a game one can learn. One way to become good in this game is to have enough determination and patience, and knowing which club to use and how to putt properly. This activity is very affordable and should that person want to get serious at it, one can easily join some tournaments then perhaps proceed on to the big leagues.

People who want to start playing the game will easily get the hang of it by just watching how others swing and putt the ball into the holes. The first thing that one needs is some equipment such as the different types of clubs, which is cheap golf clubs, the proper shoes and the ball.

The most expensive thing that a person has to use money on are the clubs. The price depends on the brand the person wants to buy but since one is just a beginner, that is the least of the worries. If that person isn’t sure yet whether to invest in brand new equipment, then that person can either borrow from the club which rents this out to players or buy one that is second hand.

When everything is ready, one can start by working with friends who do know how to play or hire an instructor to teach the basics. The first putt can be practiced on driving ranges then when one gets good at it, on the actual course itself.

Playing golf early in the morning with people from work or friends is just one of the many forms of relaxation people can do these days. It is a time for bonding and a great escape from the pressures of the city.

The Titleist 910 F-D Fairway Wood can be purchased at the online golf shop or at specialty stores. This can also be seen on the Internet and ordered online. Some players who have played for some time may also want to sell the used one for a brand new one so it just takes some time to look around and get the best deal to start playing the game.

Nobody can become an excellent golfer overnight. This will take a lot of practice. There are some public and private golf courses to choose from. Such facilities offer 18 hole and 36 hole courses and can be found by searching the web or by checking the local directory. This is usually advertised so it is kind of impossible to miss.

It doesn’t really matter if one wins or loses being in the golf course and playing the game. It is all about having fun.

Bjorn gets another shot at Sandwich

The two players who finished in a tie for second when the Open Championship was last staged at Royal St George’s, have traded places with each other in this week’s field.
Danish veteran Thomas Bjorn, who surrendered a three-shot lead to Ben Curtis with four holes to play in 2003, has stepped up to the plate at Sandwich by filling the void left by Fijian Vijay Singh.
Three-time major champion Singh, who was forced to withdraw from Open qualifying last month, was offered an invitation by the R&A into the third major of the season but opted out on Monday due to ongoing back problems.
Aussie Brendan Jones had been on standby for a start but, due to his wife expecting a baby, opted against contesting the year's third major when Singh withdrew.
“I'm very pleased but then obviously very sorry for Vijay as no one wants to withdraw from any event let alone a major,” said Bjorn, who took full advantage of being made first reserve.
“You don’t want to see players pull out, but since Sandwich I have missed some Opens and it makes you realise how much you want to play in them.”
Bjorn came agonisingly close to fulfilling his major dream eight years ago when arriving on the 15th hole with a commanding three-shot cushion.
But it all unravelled in front of millions of worldwide fans as he took three digs to get his ball out of the bunker at the par-3 16th, before dropping another at 17 to finish one adrift of Curtis, the American rookie.
“The year after what happened here was difficult, but these are the events you want to be playing in,” said the World No.80, who won the Qatar Masters in February this season.
“When I think back I just count myself lucky that I got myself in a position where I had a chance to win. Loads of people don’t get that chance.”
Bjorn will look to get off to a fast start on Thursday at 7.25am alongside fiery Englishman Simon Dyson and big-hitting American Gary Woodland.

Titleist Scotty Cameron Circa 62 Model No.3 Putter's Review

The putter I will talk about today has a great look, feel and feedback. The Titleist Scotty Cameron Circa 62 Model No.3 Putter line is all of this—and then some. With respect for the heritage and art of putting, Scotty Cameron introduces a line with subtle influences from the early Handmade, Classic, and Scottsman families, but with its own unique flourishes.

The Circa '62 No. 3, with its flat-front plumber’s neck and a head that undergoes hours of milling for a smoothness that exudes quality, pushes performance and aesthetics to the next level. The high toe helps to keep the putter soled at address, making the No. 3 as precise as it is pleasing to the eye. The head’s deep, gun-blued finish gives the Circa '62 No. 3—and the entire line for that matter—a mark of distinction found only in genuine Scotty Cameron putters.

The Titleist scotty cameron circa 62 model No.3 putter (golf clubs for sale) has a milled back pocket, engraved site dot on the topline, and a flat-front plumbing neck for those who prefer a socket-shafted setup. The entire Circa 62 line features the Tour-inspired Red Baby T grip for a high performance look and feel suited to the finest players in the world.

The milled carbon steel gives it a wonderful feel, balance is superb, and the one dot alignment actually works better for me than other forms. I have putted significantly better (after about 30 rounds) with this Scotty probably because it gives me a sense of confidence, especially for distance control.

In summary, this putter is great for square alignment and has the best softest purest feel out there. I have minimized my 3 putts dramatically and improved my scoring.

Forgiving Golf Club: Callaway FT I-Brid Irons

At first glance you may think that the Callaway FT I-Brid Irons are for high handicappers only. True, they are very forgiving and easy to hit, so if you struggle with normal irons then these could be the ones for you.

The Callaway FT i-brid Irons are a new Fully Integrated Set Design that smoothly transitions from super game-improvement mid and short irons to the new i-brid design - clubs that blend the control and accuracy of traditional irons with the forgiveness, distance and versatility of hybrids.

The lightweight titanium body, TPU SenSert and heavy Tunite alloy combine to create the most forgiving and playable clubs we've ever made. However the trajectory produced right through the set is very good and not the high ballooning shot you would expect. The feel was surprisingly good and at address they looked OK despite extra weight at the back of the head.

Golf clubs for sale that blend the control and accuracy of irons with the forgiveness, distance and versatility of hybrids. Their low, deep center of gravity (CG) helps get the ball in the air quickly and easily, while the wide sole helps improve turf interaction. The game-improvement mid and short irons are the ultimate in forgiveness with an oversized design with an increased offset, a large effective hitting and a wide sole that improves turf interaction.

The longer irons would actually make great hybrid clubs as part of a larger set, so whilst mid or even low handicappers would not be seen dead with these at 7-PW, they would be wise to swallow their pride and have a go at some of the longer irons as they are a joy to hit.
